Places of interest in Vienna

The Danube Tower has been dominating the skyline of the federal capital for the past 35 years. The 252m (827ft) high tower was built in just 20 months as the top attraction of the Vienna International Garden Show. 776 steps and 58 landings lead to the viewing platform, which is 150m (492ft) high.

Schönbrunn Zoo
The Schönbrunn Zoo was built by Adrian van Stekhoven in 1752 at the suggestion of Emperor Francis Stephen I of Lorraine, spouse of Maria Theresa, as an imperial menagerie next to Schönbrunn castle. The core of the park was a pavilion, where the imperial couple could have breakfast. That is why the 13 vivariums were layed out like pieces of a cake.
